Best Newborn Photographer in Brisbane (and How to Choose One)

Typing “best newborn photographer Brisbane” into Google at 2am, three weeks before your due date, is a very normal thing to do. You can't sleep anyway. If it's not your bladder, it's your back, or your hips, or your babies dance party. So if that is how you found this, welcome. You are exactly where you should be!
Here is the truth though. There is no single best newborn photographer in Brisbane. There is only the right one for your family. And finding them comes down to a few things that matter far more than a slick Instagram grid, and I'm sorry, I really don't love playing the game on socials, they change the rules too often and I'm busy wrangling a toddler and trying to write these posts during naptimes.

Look at how they photograph connection, not just poses
Anyone can arrange a baby into a bucket with a knitted hat. What is harder to capture, and far more valuable, is the way your partner looks at your baby for the very first time. The way your toddler’s hand rests on their new sibling without being told to. That is the work worth paying for. As you scroll through a photographer’s portfolio, notice whether you feel something.
Real connection photographs differently to a pose.

Ask how they work with real homes and real babies
Newborns do not care about lighting schedules. They cluster feed, they cry, they need a nappy change at the worst possible moment. A photographer who has genuinely done this before will roll with it gently, without rushing you or making you feel like an inconvenience.
Ask what happens if your baby will not settle. Their answer will tell you a lot, and it's why my sessions are always led by the baby.
Consider their experience with Fresh 48 and lifestyle sessions specifically
Newborn photography is its own skill set, separate from weddings or family portraits. It takes patience, a soft voice, and a deep respect for what your body and your home look like in those first weeks. If you are drawn to natural, lifestyle newborn photography rather than a styled studio setup, make sure that is genuinely their specialty and not an afterthought.
Trust how you feel talking to them
You may be in your pyjamas, possibly crying, definitely exhausted, when this person comes into your home. Choose someone you would be comfortable being that honest version of yourself in front of. That feeling matters more than almost anything else on this list.
I will come bearing a sweet treat, warm smiles and a heap of understanding, because I've been exactly where you are.

I photograph newborn and Fresh 48 sessions across Brisbane, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, and my approach is built entirely around this idea. Gentle guidance, real moments, and your home- even if it's messy or chaotic. If that sounds like what you are after, I would love to hear from you.
