In-Home vs Studio Newborn Photography in Brisbane: Which Is Better?
There is no wrong answer here, but there is a right one for you. Let’s talk through the actual differences.

Studio newborn photography
A studio session usually means numerous props, a few different backdrops, and carefully controlled lighting. Your baby might be photographed in a bucket, wrapped in specific fabrics, or posed on a beanbag in that classic curled up newborn shape. It can create beautiful images, and if that aesthetic speaks to you, it is a lovely option. It does typically mean travelling with a very new baby, and a longer session while the photographer works around feeds and settling.
In-home newborn photography

This is where I do most of my work, and it is a very different experience. I come to you, in the space where your baby actually lives. Your own bed, your own light, your own nursery. There are no props standing in for your life. Instead, the photos show your actual life: the muslin wraps piled on the couch, the way morning light falls through your kitchen window, your dog curled up nearby.
I do bring along a beanbag if you'd like a few more posed style images too, but there wont be any 'baby-on-a-swing' or frog poses, just some natural curled bubbas.
In-home sessions also tend to feel gentler for a family with a very new baby. No car trips, no unfamiliar environment, no need to get everyone dressed and out the door before anyone has slept properly in weeks. You can labour in your own space, pause for feeds without watching the clock, and settle your baby the way you normally would.
So which is better?
If you love the polished, styled studio look and do not mind the logistics, studio photography is a wonderful choice. If you want photographs that feel like your real life, your real home, and the early days exactly as they were, in-home lifestyle newborn photography is likely the better fit.
